A search of “Mirrow” or “Mirrow Cars” on google yielded such results as “Car Mirrors: Amazon.com” and “Discount Auto Mirrors” when looking up the innovative new Russian car maker this morning. That isn’t surprising though, as it seems this manufacturer is in the infancy of what they hope will be a revolution in the car industry.
With a slogan like “Cars like a Mirror of Tomorrow,” one would have to believe the future is bright for them. Their lone and only virtual model so far may be odd looking, but look a little deeper and all this revolutionary talk isn’t so outlandish.
The Mirrow Provocator bares a strong resemblance to models from mini electric car maker smart, but with a few strong differences. Designed by Alexander Malyshev, this future city car is the same length as the smart Fortwo, but can fit four passengers as well as their luggage. Mirrow classifies it as “not a long car, but not a small one,” so what appears to be a vehicle that would make claustrophobes cringe, it is actually quite spacious. The car is eight feet wide and nearly seven feet tall, making it potentially suitable for Kristaps Porzingis (okay that’s pushing it).
All that is well and good, but we haven’t even gotten to the most fascinating part – the doors. Well, the door, that is. You may see the side doors in the photos, but similar to an aircraft they are for emergency exit only. The main door comes in the back, similar to being famous and sneaking into the club through the back (or something like that). Malyshev believes the sliding rear door delivers the highest level of safety, and it is where everyone, including the driver, will enter the vehicle.
The Provocator is designed for the urban life, featuring a turbocharged three-cylinder petrol or diesel engine up to 1.5 liters. This will only provide a top speed of 86 mph and it will take 8.7 seconds to reach 60 mph. But if you are going to own such a car as the Provocator, I don’t think you’re taking it down to the Daytona 500 and turnin’ left.
On the interior Mirrow is shooting for comfort, not an easy task in a car so small, but the aforementioned space should provide an unexpected level of relaxation. This work in progress is beginning to grow on us. With some final arrangements to be made on the Provocator, and hopefully some PR moves to get them above discount mirrors on Amazon after a google search, we may just be looking into a mirror of the future after all.
