Kanye West on Taylor Swift: 'I want the best for that person'

Kanye West has made new comments regarding his relationship with Taylor Swift. In a video taken of the 38-year-old rapper at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday, West said he does not think Swift needs to show him more respect. "If you like my music, listen to it," West said. "If you like her music, listen to it."
West went on to say he wishes Swift well. "It's like, I want the best for that person, but there's people going through real issues out here," he said. "There's people out of work. There's people in debt that can't make it out of the debt. There's people that's in debt that don't have a shoe. There's people that are in debt that don't have a hit album out also -- you know what I'm saying? ... I don't think people care about me or her in that way. People care about their families, their kids."
West references Swift on "Famous," a song off his new studio album The Life of Pablo, when he raps, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous." The lyric alludes to the 2009 episode where West interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for an award at the VMAs. West has claimed Swift approved the lyric and that he "did not diss" her.
Swift responded to the "Famous" lyric in a statement through her rep and said, "Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single 'Famous' on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, 'I made that bitch famous.'"
When accepting Album of the Year at the Grammys on Monday, she noted that "there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame." Soon after, audio leaked of West making additional comments, some of them about Swift, prior to his performance on Saturday Night Live on February 13.
